Maeda

There are many beef restaurants in Brazil, but most of them don't serve what I really want . But here, Maeda has what I want. It is Yakiniku style, which is that you grill meat like BBQ on the table. I think it is Japanese style and most of customers were asian. They serve many organ foods at this restaurant. Many Japanese like to eat organs. It is said that they have many vitamin and collagen in it, and it is popular among women. I am not sure how much American and Europeans enjoy it, in fact J doesn't like it. tongue and vegetable

Kintaro

This pub is popular among Japanese business men and it is busy on a week day. The food on the tray was lined up on the bar counter and you point to them to order.
I had eggplant, pickled fish, marinaded fried fish and Oden. We had 3 bottles of beer and the total cost R$49. This pub had beer, Serramalte, which was good. I like it the best in Brazil so far.

Sushi Guen

There are a lot of sushi restaurants in Sao Paulo, but they don't have so many kinds of fish. It makes me feel I am missing something. Sushi restaurants in Japan sometimes have fish I don't know. Sushi Guen has more kinds of fish than other restaurant and the interior looks like very Japanese. The chef is from Japan and he knows good fish. I liked Sashimi squid and sea urchin!

Panya Bakery Itiriki

A Japanese bakery sells many different kinds of bread; pizza bread, hot dog, sandwiches and pastry. Panya is a typical Japanese bakery. Once going into the bakery, you might forget that you are in Brazil. I picked "Quatro queijo(4 cheese)". It has cheese and mayo on the bread. I saw Melon pan and An-pan(sweet beans paste in the bun) was sold. Pan means bread or bun. It was a little bit more pricy than Japan, but it is worth it. How wonderful that I can enjoy a Japanese bakery in Brazil!

Sushi Den on 25th Feb.

Food : Fried squid arms, Sushi and Sashimi, Ceviche
Drink : one bottle of beer, a glass of sake

I was hungry for sushi since this morning. I decided not to cook tonight and we went to our favorite sushi resutaurant, Sushi Den. As usual, once we took a seat, "Cerveja(beer)?" asked the waiter. YES. This is our restaurant. The ceviche we had was what they gave us for free. They give us something for trial every time. I like it! They are seizing our heart (stomach?). They know what business is.

Yakisoba House

Yakisoba is a stir-fry noodle with vegitable and meat. At a Japanese restaurant in Sao Paulo, it is not the yakisoba that I expect. It is more like Chinese style. Once you leave Asia, Asian food looks all the same for people. But I have a strong feeling for Japanese food. Here, the restaurant, "Yakisoba House", serves completely ideal Yakisoba. It is located at a food court in a small shopping center. It is not bad to have Chinese style Yakisoba, but if you wanna try real Yakisoba, I recommend Yakisoba House to you.

Yakitoriya

Chopp(draft beer) and Edamame(soy beans)

Tori soboro don(cooked minced chicken on the rice in a bowl)

Yakitori Negima(grilled chicken and long green onion on the stick)

Tebasaki(grilled chiken wings)

Tsukune(grilled chicken ball)

Tomato & bacon

Oden; Daikon and Konnyaku(cooked Japanese white radish and Konnyaku)

Oden pot

Drink : Chopp(beer about 10 oz?) x 4

Food : Negima x 1, Tebasaki x 2, Tsukune x 1, Tomato & Bacon x 1, Oden(Daikon x 1, Konnyaku x 1), Tori soboro don(small size) x 1
What a simple name! Yakitoriya serves yakitori, that's why it's name is yakitoriya. Would you name "Steak resutaurant" if you open steak restaurant? Anyway, this restaurant is very popular amomng Japanese. It seemed there were all Japanese except H and the staff. There is not only yakitori but also oden, sushi, ramen and other Japanese food. Oden is cooked food with fish broth. We usually order yakitori and oden. These are pretty good. I recommend Tori soboro don, which is cooked minced chicken on white rice. The small size is enough for 2 people.

Lamen Kazu

Shoyu Ramen (Ramen, soy sauce flavor)

Gyoza (dumpling)

We went to Lamen Kazu for lunch on Sunday. It seemed pretty popular. I know 2 ramen restaurants in Liberdade, Lamen Kazu and Lamen Asuka, and both of them are busy most of the time. Personally, I prefer Lamen Kazu. I ordered Shoyu(soy sauce) flavor and H ordered Miso flavor. I liked my ramen, but the soup was a little bit sweet for me. I don't think I will order shoyu flavor next time. Gyoza was also good. I like the gyoza here the best so far in Sao Paulo, although I haven't tried enought other restrant's.
BTW, we usually spell "R"amen, but in Portugues, it is "L"amen. I guess if it spells "ramen", it would pronounce "hamen" or something like that.

Yakitori Mizusaka

Isobe yaki (Grilled rice cake)

Sanma no shioyaki (Grilled Saury)

Atsuage(grilled "deep fried tofu")

Drink : 2 bottle of beer ( I had a glass of beer), 2 glass of shochu on the rock

Food : Yakitori(chicken on the stick), Tebasaki(chicken wing), Atsuage, Sanma, Shumai(steamed meat dumpling), Isobeyaki

Yakitori is one of my favorite Japanese food. You can enjoy grilled vegetables and pieces of chiken on the stick. It is usally marinated with soy souce or just salt and pepper. It looks like satey. Once when I went into Yakitori Mizusaka, I felt like I came back to Japan. It was just like Izakaya, which is Japanese pub or bar. Lunch menu looked also nice. I would like to come back for lunch next time.
