Phantom Mustard Pork

Why phantom? Because of the ingredients. I use leftover beer to make this. It is RARE for J and me not to finish beer. If it shall happen, we might be sick or get drunk and fall asleep before drinking up. So, I don't know when I have a chance to make it next time. To remember, I will keep the recipe.

Ingredients : serve 1 - 2
pork - slice in 1 cm
1/2 onion - slice against fiber
1 tbs mustard
beer - 200cc
a little salt

Preparation :
1. Stirfry pork and onion with salt
2. Add beer and mustard
3. Stew for 10 minutes

Note : I used ham this time. Chicken or beef can work for this recipe.

Ping Pong

I want to eat different kinds of food at same time. Dim dum is perfect for me, but I don't see many dim sum restaurants in Sao Paulo. Ping Pong is the only dim sum restaurant I know so far. It has a good atmosphere. I had a glass of champagne and it was good. But I am not sure about a glass of red wine. It was cold just like a glass of white wine.

I was very hungry for Japanese style breakfast when I woke up. I guess that's because I had not cooked and eaten my cooking this week?
J and I went to dim sum restaurant, PING PONG for dinner. I went there before with a friend and I wanted J to try it, too. I found that we had restaurant week right now when we got to the restaurant. Restaurant week is a kind of promotion event for restaurants and they have a special menu for lunch and dinner with same price at all restaurants. Lunch is R$29 and dinner is R$39. More than 200 restaurants join this event this time and it holds twice in a year in Sao Paulo. It is good deal to try new restaurants.
! I just googled it. Do we have it in the U.S. too? I didn't need to explain. Ooops, I don't have it in Japan. I wish we had it in Japan too.

I usually have lunch at noon and my stomach already started making noise at 11am. Then I got a hamburger for lunch. When I got home, sweet J left pizza for me. What a junk food day, today! Oh, I have to confess another thing. I had a small strawberry tart for a desert after lunch. The excuse is "yesterday" was my co-worker's birthday.

Banana & walnuts cocoa cake

It is rare for me to bake a cake. I don't have a sweet tooth and am not good at making sweets. I think it is more difficult to make sweets than cooking. For cooking, I can taste sometimes and add more ingredients. But for sweets, I have to measure the exact ingredients, or the sponge of cake wouldn't be puffy sometimes.

Ingredients : I use 20 x 10cm heat resistant glass case to bake
1 egg - whisk well
100cc flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tbs cocoa powder (I use nestle for chocolate drink)
50cc sugar
3 tbs butter - melt it in the microwave

1 banana - slice

some walnuts

Preparation :
1. Pre-heat oven 180C
2. Spread oil in the case and sprinkle walnuts
3. Mix flour, baking powder, cocoa powder and sugar in the bowl
4. Add egg into #2 and whisk well
5. Add butter into #3 and wisk well
6. Pour #4 into the case and put sliced banana
7. Put the case in the oven and bake for 20 - 30 minutes
8. Pierce a stick on the cake and if anything don't come out on the stick, it is done.

Note : It shows "cc" to measure because I don't have a scale.

I got cauliflower yesterday. I was hungry for fried cauliflower. I missed breaded fried cauliflower my mom made. To be honest, it's not only cauliflower. I am missing all my mom's cooking.
Anyway, I decided to cook cauliflower but I didn't have panco (chunk of bread). So I made fritter. It was good with lime juice and salt. Simple and good for beer!

Kintaro

This pub is popular among Japanese business men and it is busy on a week day. The food on the tray was lined up on the bar counter and you point to them to order.
I had eggplant, pickled fish, marinaded fried fish and Oden. We had 3 bottles of beer and the total cost R$49. This pub had beer, Serramalte, which was good. I like it the best in Brazil so far.

It is rare for me to have salad for breakfast. I went to an organic market this morning and got fresh nappa letuce. I added an organic carrot I bought last week and made salad. I liked it!
We went to Liberdade this evening. I was going to take J to a Chinese restaurant, Campeao, but it was packed. It was very disappointing. It has really good food and I want J to taste it. So I picked Kintaro, which is a Japanese pub.

Kobu-Ninjin

I like this! I bought many carrots and tried having them in different recipe. I use dashi-konbu, which is seaweed for making broth. So I don't need to add bouillon. It's a natural flavor.

Ingredientes :
1 middle carrot - chop finely
1 dashi konbu (5cm x 5cm) - cut finely by scissosrs
1 dried shitake
1 slice of ginger - mince
1 pinch of salt
2 tsp of soy sauce
1 cup of water

Preparations :
1. Bathe shitake in the water until getting soft
2. Chop shitake finely. Keep the water
3. Put shitake, water and all other ingredients in the pot
4. Cook it on the small heat until carrot gets tender (about 15 minutes?)

I was going to finish leftovers in the morning and eat out for lunch. But it was too much for breakfast. So I put everythings in the pan and made fried rice. You might see some ingredients you saw in yesterday's blog.
I have had ice cream for three days straight.........it was hot everyday. It can be an excuse?
